Secure payment or cash on delivery: what really changes

Why cash on delivery holds sellers back, and how secure payment protects both sides.

Cash on delivery protects the buyer… and penalises the seller

The seller fronts the product and the ride without knowing if the buyer will show up or pay. Result: many refuse to ship far, ask for a deposit or inflate prices to cover refused parcels.

The courier, meanwhile, carries cash, with all the risks that brings.

Paying upfront reassures the seller… and exposes the buyer

The buyer pays before seeing the item, with no way out if the seller vanishes or the item is wrong.

Secure payment: the money in the middle

On Mokolo you pay when ordering with MTN MoMo or Orange Money. Mokolo holds the money: the seller knows they will be paid and ships with confidence. You know you'll be refunded if nothing arrives.

The seller is paid when you give your Mokolo Code to the courier, parcel in hand. If something goes wrong, report it within 48 hours and the Mokolo team decides within 5 days.
